A bazaar was opened at Prebbleton yesterday afternoon to'raise funds for the purchase of bells to replace the peal that was destroyed by fire some years ago. Tlie stalls were laden with nil manner of commodities, especially that belonging to the Church of England's Men's Society. The work stall was. the result of many months' hard sewing. The member for the district, Mr R. H. Rhodes, M.P., in opening the sale said that bells brought back memories of olden days and he hoped that the Prebbleton parishioners would soon hare the desire of their hearts fulfilled. Brisk trade was done all of the stalls, competition beitiij especially keen for tho oats and wheat in the farm produce department. A prize for the best pair of dressed ducks was won by Mrs I. Campion, for the best pair of dressed fowls by Mrs Roesler, and Mrs John Gallagher secured the prize for the best dozen eggs. In the doll dressing competition there were three classes, and the prises were won by Miss Ada Fuller, Miss Venus Hartnell and Miss Kathleen Hartnell. , The following is a'list of the stall-holders:—Produce, Mesdames Witte, J. Williams, Rollings and Miss Dobson; plain work, Mesdames Hartnell, M'Nally, Downey, Gabbatis and Miss Lily Legg; fancy work, Mrs Yeatman and the Misses Foster; flower stall, Mesdames Goodwin and Haden; fish pond, tho Misses Ada Fuller, M'Nally 'and Ida Legg; sweet stall, Mesdames C. J. Prebble and Eaglesome: Christmas tree, Mrs F. Carpenter, Misses Woodward and Marsh; Church of England Men's Society's stall, Mr W. N. Work; shooting gallery, Mr A. Gabbatis; refreshment rooms, Mrs Cr.iythorne- and the Misses Eva Fuller and Alma Cravtborne; farm produce, Messrs F. W. Carjjeptor jujd J, W. Patchett.
