PERSONAL.

Amongst the passengers by the Maori from Wellington this morning were Messrs J. Studholme, C. E. Morris and W. Pryor. Captain Lomottee, Colonel Head and the Hon G. J. Smith were passengers by the Maori from Welltngton this morning. Arrivals in town include the following:—Colonel Head (Wellington), Messrs I). Todd (Dunedin); A. R. Greenwood (Amberley). F. P. MacDougall (Wellington), A.. Wilson (London). A. E. Schoeffel (Fiji) and D. D. Van Lenr (Chicago). Mr J. T. Clarke, who has been elected Lord Mayor of Sydney, cam© to the front in Dunedin many years ago. Starting as a bookseller iio became an auctioneer, and established a large businoss. He was also Mayor of South Dunedin, and many credit him with initiating tho progress of the South Dunedin district. He is grand secretary of the J.0.0.F.
