Owing to the bursting of a tyre a motor-car overturned at Killarney, and Charles Pierce was killed and three other occupants were seriously injured. TRAIN FATALITY. [Per Pkkss Association.} AUCKLAND, April 24. A man named Thomas urubb, fortyfive years of age, fell when alighting from a moving train at Henderson to-day and received injuries which proved fatal. SUICIDE. FPbr Press Association-.] ASHBURTON, April 24. All inquest was held at Ashburton today, before Mr V. G. Day, coroner, touching the death of Charles flvdwm Jeffs, a married man, forty-five years of age. who was found lying dead in an outhouse last evening, with a b' 0(Kl " stained razor in his hand and his throat cut across from ear to ear. IVvidence went to show that deceased had always been a most steady, industrious man and liad always lived most happily with his family. He was in fairly prosperous circumstances, and fa not known to have had any troubles, and no reason could 1)0 assigned for his having taken his own life. Ho left a letter addrassed to his wife, who had gone out in the afternoon to pay several calls, saying that ho was tired of liis life and bidding his wife and family good-bye. The coroner remarked that the only reason that could be assigned for the man's death was that deceased had suddenly been overcome by a fit of temporary insanity, and he therefore returned a verdict that deceased had committed suicide while temporarily insane.
