Kvans riu: secretary <it the Canterbury Saloyards Company, Limited, wrote stating that h<> would be pleased to see the president, and vice-president of the Lii ion regarding the conditions of the public sheep dip at Addingt-on. TJie letter stated that the dip was at present being renewed. With regard to this letter Mr (». Sheat stated that he had inspected tho dip and had found it everything that could be desired. Compulsory dipping, he had lonnd, wa.s insisted on in order ci; obviate the danger of dealers puttiny; unclean sheep "into tho yard and in lest in"; others with vermin. itli reference to this matter the secretary of the Oxford branch of the Onion wrote stating that at a meeting of the branch it had been expressed as tho opinion of the meeting that farmers put'eha-sing sheen at any public yard should be allowed to dip them where* they liked on condition of their guaranteeing immediate and proper dipping. Tt. was decided to reply that Mr Silent, had been informed that, the Department had been in the habit of releasing sheep in the past 011 the understanding that they would be dipped 011 arrival at their destination and had found they had not been so dipped. Tt was therefore enforcing the compulsory dippin;; clause. Accounts for X"2O were passed for payment.
