RAILWAY APPEAL BOARD.

[Per Press Association.] WELLINGTON, April 21. Dr M'Arthur, of tho Railway Appeal Board, dismissed tho appeal of XV. Thompson, stationmaster at Grevtown, against his position on the classification list, on the ground that the general manager had not given the certificate which was a necessary prelude to promotion. l)r M'Arthur held that there was no power to compel the general manager to give a certificate. That might mean that the classification wa-s not worth the papei, it wa.s written on. He might be wrong, but he thought that tho remedy, if any, lay in getting the regulations amended. The lay members of the Board dissented, considering that the appeal should be sustained. The decisions will l>e forwarded to the Minister.
