Wickham, the eommir.sioner appointed by the British Board of Trade to inquire in regard to trade between the Old Country and this dominion. is in Christchurch. Ho has met several prominent men in the city, and this afternoon ho attended a, meeting of the Council of the Canterbury Chamber of Commerce. To an interviewer, he said that ho, had very little to say for publication. He had made only short visits to the centres of population, and he had not had time to form "impressions." Even his report to the Board of Trade would not deal exhaustively with his work. Ho had recently visited several southern centres, including Dunedin, Invercargill, Oama.ru, Tiinant and Ashburton. After staying in Christchurch for a short time be would return to Wellington.
