DOMAINS FETE.

ARRANGEMENTS FOR TOMORROW.

The appeal to the public on behalf of the Domain Gardens, which was made with remarkable success last year, will be repeated to-morrow afternoon, and the committee in charge of the fete is confident that the response will be liberal and enthusiastic.

The arrangements, which have been in hand some months, are on an elaborate seals. The committee has loft nothing undone that is likely to make the day thoroughly enjoyable. One of the most popular features of tho fete is the plan to provide return trips to Australia. North Island and Hanmer, amounts of £5, £2 and £1 respectively being added if the tickets are purchased prior to the date of fete. Judging by the very large numbers of tickets that have been sold the Domains Board will obtain a substantial sum of money from this source alone. As Rohm recognition of the public's response in this respect, it has been decided that the display of one ftf these tickets will render the holder immune from requests to give something to the collection that will be made at the gates. Last year the tea stalls accommodated 500 persons a.t a time; this year they will accommodate 800 persons. The Woolston and Burnhara Bands and Hayward's Orchestra will provide music at the fete.

Mr R. C. Bishop has arranged for some ninety citizens to take control of the various gates and entrances, and to receive from those who patronise the fete a small contribution as an appreciation of the Domain. Miss Duncan has arrange-d for the pupils of the Papanui School to give a display of scarf and wand exercises during the afternoon. The Mayor has asked the citizens to close at noon to-morrow, the day of the fete, and the offices, warehouses and business premises have already signified their willingness to close at that hour. The schools will grant the children a half-holiday, so as to enable both parents and children to attend the fete.

As on the occasion of last year's fete, the tea kiosk is expected to merit its fair share of patronage. The secretary reports the placing of large orders to accommodate the large assemblage. Given fine weather the Domain Fete of 1912 should easily eclipse its predecessors.

MEETING OF THE EXECUTIVE. The final meeting of the executive committee of the Domain Fete was held yesterday, Mr H. J. Beswick being in the chair. A report was received from the Canvassing Committee, stating that the sum of £SO was assured. It was resolved that in the event of wet weather the fete should be postponed for a week.

The secretary reported that all arrangements were in hand for the carrying out of the fete.
