HARBOUR BOARD.
WAIMAIvARIRI. Tho monthly meeting of the AVaimakariri Harbour Board was held on Monday evening; present—Messrs B. Lissaman (chairman), M'lntosh, Edmonds, Keetley, Skevingtori, Wright and Barnard. A letter was received from tho Kaiapoi Borough Council asking for access to the fire sumps 011 tho Board's property at all .times. It was decided to give the access, but at the same time the Board could not agree to any interference with its tenants. The harbourmaster reported, that tha average depth in the bar was Bl't 6in. A heavy fresh in the river on October*; 2o had carried, away a portion of Kai« raki, and also the signal staff, and ho had found it necessary to erect a new stall? 011 a fresh mound. The bar had shifted considerably to the south sincd last report. The wootton had ground* ed on I)oubleday's Spit and had caused considerable damage to the recently* ejected training wall owing to he* bumping against it. There was seven to nine feet of water at the gut in; Stewart's Gully at low water, llie ren port was adopted, and the harbourmaster's action in erecting a new flag* staff was upheld. It was decided that the work of repairing the training Wall should be left in tho hands of tho A\ orkfl Committee with power to act. , sicleration of repairs to cattle jetty» damaged by tho recent flood, was deferred until next month, lho p«H posod by-laws for the regulation of launch traffic on the river were held over until next meeting. Receipts since the previous meeting wero reported to bo £4l and the debit balance at the bank was'£l44 1.4s lOd. Accounts amounting 5d were passed for payment*
