After breakfast Gold Size and Prince King; ran threo furlongs on the grass in 38 4-ssec. Master Wairiki was two, lengths in front of St Devis on the grass in lmin 18 l-ssec. A lot of others did useful work. Owing to tho death of Mi 3 Harmon Irrideaconce, Semolina and Bell Crispin have been scratched for Wednesday's engagements. RICCARTON TRAINING NOTES. Tuesday. A perfect morning saw a large and representative gathering present to watch the training operations, which were of a highly interesting? character. Practically all of the work was performed on tho plough, which was in capital order. The trainers were early astir and sharp on five o'clock G. Murray-Aynsley dispatched Prim (Emerson) and Martine (iight-weight) for a sound working- gallop over a mile and a quarter. Commencing slowly .they ran tho first half-milo in 64 2-asep, and the full journey in 2min 15 2-osoc, finishing together. Both horses finished strongly, and if anything Martine pleased mast. Medallist spurted half a mile in 51 .l-ssec. The Cornet (Griiien) dsfeateel Dazsling (Whittaker) and Colleon Mary (Manor) in a spin over six furionga, run in lmin 17 2-6seq. .Dazzling wf,s not doing her best, and finished well, but Colleen Mary again performed disappointingly. Masterpiece- (Pricev) and Counterfeit (Emerson) dashed over a milo in lmin 'ls 3-sseo, Counterfeit, who was on the outside, having her companion well beaten at tho finish. Avarice and Nithsdale ran a milo in lmin 48 S-ssec, Somersault seven furlongs in lmin 34 2-ssoc, and Query a, similar distance in lmin 32sec. Rose Noble and Flambeau galloped a ,mile in lmin 47 3-ssec, finishing together, apd Foam Flake, Amalgam and Stephanos ran six furionga in lmin SO 1-osec. Bliss ran the last half-mile of a medium pace circuit comfortably in Slsec, and Coroniform cast seven furlongs behind in lmin 32 l-ssec. Madam Madcap (Jones) defeated Countermine (Emorson) over five furlongs in lmin 2 3-ssec. a brilliant effort, as she finished very wall. Outlander (Berry) and Cronstadt (Qriffen) assisted over the last mile by Mumura, traversed a milo And a quarter in 2min losec, there being little to choose between tho Cup pair at the finish. Oka ran six furlong' in lmin 19 2-ssec. Bandore was going better than Glade at the end of a spin over half a mile on the grass, run in 49 3-Bseo a smart performance. Nyland (Oliver) defeated Boanerges (Price) over sis furlongs in lmin 18 2-sseo. Corrie and Mis 3 Fry brushed ovor five furlongs in lmin 4, 4-sseo, finishing together. Espartero and Hawick traversed a mile and a quarter, the last once round, occupying 2min 7 8-Sseo. Lob Angolos (Lowe), by himself, galloped a mile, the last Eeven furlongs of whioh he ran in lmin 81r.ee. Eqxiitas (K. Young) ran six furlongs in lmin 17 l-53e0. Aimwell and Alexis were well matched in a spin over four furlongs, run in 513e0. Heather Brae spurted five furionga in lmiu Csec, the Nellie B. colt registering an exactly similar performance. Gipsy Belle and Dearest finished together in a spin over four furlongs on the sand in 50 2-osec. Battalion and Troon put in «■ working gallop over seven furlongs. Taunhsmser (Collier) and St Aidan (light weight) were .companions in a gallop over a mile and a quarter', which they ran in 2miii 15 2-6 sac. They finished together and there appeared to be little to choose between them. Miscount (L. Wilson) Domino and Boyal Scotch (Watson) then mado their way down to the mile and a quarter mark. They started off in straggling! order, Miscount jumping out well clear of Royal Scotch, while Domino got off badly. Misoount set a solid pace, and at the end of srix furlongs he was four or five lengths in front of Royal Scotch, with Domino" toiling along some distance further back. Miscount tired badly ovor the last two furlongs and Ijoyal Scotoh was overhauling him rapidly till a hundred yards from home, when he aL»o commenced to stop. The time for the full distance was Smin 12 4-ssec, a smart performance on the part of Miscount, though it was an unsatisfactory gallop. Projectile cleared right out from ILauroa over a milo and a quarter, the last nine furlongs occupying 2min 3sec, and Kauroa's effort was very disappointing if ho has any pretensions to Cup class. St Petersburg and St Felix finished together over a mile, the last seven furlongs taking lmin 31sec. Dan Lono (O'Neii), Southern Cross (Coleman) and Santa CJaus (Levi) were schooled over four flights of hurdles. Dan Lono performed best in an indifferent display. Big Blast galloped seven furlongs in lmin 34sco. Sea King (Emerson) and Crosbia (M'Gregor) dashed over four furlongs from a racing. start in 49 2-ssec, Sea King having a slight advantage. Electrakoff (Moule) and Labour Day (feather weight) covered five furlongs in lmin 2 4-Ssec' a brilliant effort. Undecided brushed over half a mile on the grass comfortably in 52seo. Morecambo and Outward galloped six furlongs in lmin ISsec, and 'San Lass and Nikon six furlongs in lmin 19 2-6 sec. Allurement covered half a mile in El 2-ssec, and All Guns and Kimona half a mile up tho back on the grass in Slaeo. Expansion and North Pale galloped five furlongs, the last four in 62sec. John Bunyan beat Glcnfleld over a mile in lmin 52seo. Goodwin Park covered a mile and a quarter in 2min 15 l-ssec, Kilostari trotted three times round the plough, and appeared to be moving quits soundly. Parable defeated Midnight Sun over a mile in lmin 47 2-ssec. Patriotic finished in front of St Toncy and Floater over six furlongs in lmin 19 2-osoc. St Toncy, who was on tho outside, was finishing very well. Rangiatua dashed over half a mile in 50 3-ssec. Famous took lmin 3 2-ssoc over five furlongs and Formby and Ainsdale covered a similar distance in lmin 4 l-ssec. **

During the breakfast interval the ploughed track was harrowed and provided excellent goin? for the late workers. Gangway galloped seven furlongs in lmin 35sec, and Kilts ran six furlongs in lmin 18 3-Sseo. Falsettia spurted threo furlongs in 37sec, and Bonny Glen covered seven furlongs in lrnin 32Jseo. Pleasure Bent finished in front of True Knight over six furlongs in lmin 18 1-533 C. Nightli-jht (Emerson), assisted by Sunt Bosaleor over the first hiilo, and Probable over the last mile and a quarter, traversed a mile and a half in 2min -15 2-ssec. It was not an impreasivo Cup trial, as Probable easily held his companion at the finish. Fisticuff and Susa finished together over six; furlongs in lmin 20seo. Eagfestone galloped seven furlongs in lmin 33' 4-ssec, and Full Kate five furlongs in lmin i l-ssec. The course proper, down the straight, was open for two-year-olds from tho half-mile barrier, which was worked by Mr H. Piper. Peppin (King) and Art were the first to get going, and they ran down in 50sec, with Peppin slightly in front. Ermengarde (Oliver), Beldame (it. Young) Lourdes and XSonitas jumped out together. Ermeneardo finished very well arid easily held Beldame in 49 l-3sec, a very attractive eJFort. Bon iSoir, Bon Ton and Peroneal then lined up, but Bon Soir whipped round when the barrier went up and the other two were pulled off after going about two furlongs. Bon Soir was triad again with the next batch, but repeated his previous performance, and subsequently remained at the barrier, apparently for educational purposes. Peg beat Nyx in SO 2-osec. Jau and Champagne wero tha next pair, and they finished'together, but Champagne, who had a>n advantage in tha weights, appeared to have- most in reserve. May Dairy mple (with a pull in the weights) finished en tsrms with Anna Cnrlovona in 49 2-ssec, Kditah being beaten off. Winning Way (Emerson) had Autumuns (Jones) well beaten in 4£isco, the Greek Maid filly (M'Clusky) beingsome distance away. Scottish Star (Chapman) finished in front of Olenfinnan (Jones) and Brown Owl (M'Clusky) in 4'J :!-3sec. Canute, Lady Georgia, Taffeta and Gnomefinished in a line from a, standing start without tho barrier in 49 3-ssec, Gnome showing l to most advantage.

Coldfinder and Pilgrim's Way were absentees.

Final payments for the New Zealand Cup, Stewards' Handicap, Derby Stakes, Welcome Stakes and Oaks .Stake", to be run at the. Canterbury Ji-ckey Club's Metropolitan meeting, are duo at ekht o'clock to-morrow night. Acceptances will be- taken at the

same time for the "Riccnrton Welter, SpringHurdle Handicap and Ladies' Purse. Acceptances for tho first day's racing l at the New Zealand Metropolitan Trotting Club's Cup meeting, will close at eight o'clock to-nisht. It is understood that Sal Tnskcr is an improbable- sliu-ler for the New Zealand Trotting Cup. _ Passive, Turbine, Ebonite, Masallie. Effort, fraiuii, Odessa, Varna. Aliuapai, Beacon, Birkline, Goldemar, Te Whetu, Louptcp, Merrivonia, Bracken and Mendip arrived from Wellington this morning. Outward was scratched for the luccarton Welter at 10.15 a.m. to-day.
