MINING.

WEST COAST NOTES. [From Our Correspondent.] GREYMOUTH, October 30. As a result of last week's flood! in the Moonlight Creek the Moonlight Syndicate's dredge broke away, with the consequence that the pontoons wore wreoked. The syndicate, which consists of Messrs Turner,' i>as3moro, Anderson, Woodhouso aaid Linstrom, is a severe loser by the disaster, _as it will bo impossible to resume dredging without constructing new pontoons. The lndder and elevator aro also considerably smashed. The dredge hadi just got on to a good run of gold, after working its way through a mile of tailings, during which tho returns were xDractioally nil. The return from the Blackwater Kiver dredgo for last week was 41oz 4dwt. The Worksop obtained 112 os lldwfc during tho same period. The latter company is now paying a dividend of three shillings per share. A gentleman well known in mining circles visited tho Snowy Creek claim, owned by a Millerton-Westport Company, and! reports that the find is extremoly good. It is quite on tho cards that it may become another Blackwater.
