Mr Lysnar, Mayor of Gisborne. has intimated his intention to resign the mayoralty upon medical advice. Mr H. G. £ll, M.P., Mr G. W. Russell, M.P., Mr G. W. Forbes, M.P., and Mr G. Witty, M.P., arrived in Christchurch frcm ■ Wellington this morning. Mr H. G. Wake, 8.A., who was recently appointed headmaster of the East Christchurch School, arrived in Christchurcu to-day. Mr Wake was for some years headmaster of the Hokitika District High School, and has served for twelve and a half years under the Westland Education Board. While an enthusiast in his profession, Mr Wake has also interest d himself in tennis and golf, and is the holder of the West Coast lawn tennis singles championship, while, with Mr Beare, he alro the doubles championship. The "West Coast.Times,'; in last Wednesday's i'-.tue. pays a high tribute to Mr Wake's abilities as a scholar and a trainer of pupil-tcachors.
