The Legislative Assembly adopted the Premier's motion congratulating Mr Asquith on the passing of the Parliament Bill. The leader of the Opposition doubted the wisdom, of interfering in the bitter party politics of Britain. NEW SOUTH WALES. THE BY-ELECTIONS. LABOUR VICTORY. (Received August 17, 8.30 a.m.) SYDNEY, August 17. Mr W. F. Dunn, the Labour candidate for the Mudgee seat, has been reelected, defeating the Wadeite candidate, Mr Owen Gilbert, formerly member for Newcastle, by a majority of 198. It will be remembered that towards the end of July, during the discussion on Mr Wade's no-confidence motion, Mr Dunn tendered his resignation, the ground given being that he did not agree with the land policy of the Government. Later Mr Dunn was reconciled to his party, anfl was selected to contest the seat. At the general election Mr Dunn defeated his opponent. Mr Robert Jones, by a majority of 425, the constituency having previously been held by a supporter of the Wado party.
