NEW WARSHIP TYPE.
DREADNOUGHT TO BE ABANDONED. United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright. (Received July 6, 10 a.m.) LONDON, July 5. Tlie "Pall Mall Gazette" ha's high authority for stating that the Director of Naval Construction contemplates the abandonment of the Dreadnought type of warship, but the new type is kept a close secret. It is believed that it approximates to the Lord Nelson, 17,000 tons, and is suitable for shallow water. The primary armament will be six fifteen-inch guns, and an antitorpedo armament. Many experts opposed to putting all the eggs into one basket.
