THE CORONATION
ARRANGEMENTS IN CHRISTCHURCH. Instructions have been given that a platform should be erected in Hagley Park for the speakers at the ceremony on Thursday next, and Mr A. D. Dobson, city surveyor, is consulting with Mr 11. C. Bishop, chairman of the Procession .Committee, in regard to details. The platform will be a small one, and will not be available to the public. Definite arrangements havy been made for barricading Durham Street from Gloucester Street to Chester Street, for the children. Subscriptions are beginning to come in f(?r the Home for Incurable Consumptives. Mr G. A. Blaekmoro has given £1 Is, Mrs Matthias £1 and Mr H. J. .Beswick £2 2s, and another contributor, per Mr W. H. M'Dougall, £l9 10s. The charge sheet only will be taken at the Police Court at 9.30 a.m. on Coronation Day, and there will be no civil sitting of the Magistrate's Court. THE HOLIDAY QUESTION. No firms working under awards will observe Thursday as a holiday. ' It has been suggested .that the Government should proclaim Friday the Coronation Day holiday, as well as Prince of "Wales's Birthday.
