ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES
[Ver Press Association.] AUCKLAND, June 14. An accident of a, somewhat serious nature befel Captain Prosser on the Railway "Wharf to-day, while supervising the unloading of some slag from the Matatua into trucks on the wharf. Captain Prosser was caught and jammed against the «id<: of a truck, receiving several broken ribs, and, it is feared, some internal injuries. Captain Prosser was until lately master of one of tho Shaw, Savill boats, and now holds tho position of shore stevedore- for the company. On Wednesday morning Mrs Letitia Brophy, of Pleasant Valley, widow of the late Mr Kyran Brophy. was found dead in bed. The dec-eased, who was fifty seven years of age, appeared to be in excellent health when sho retired on the previous night. The cause of death is believed to have been heart disease. Mrs Brophy was an old. resident of the district. Mr Peter Elder, an employee of tho Canterbury Kaleyards Company, was knocked down by a passing vehicle yesterday, and sustained slight injuries to one of his feet.
