CENSUS RETURNS.

FINAL TOTALS. STATEMENT BY THE MINISTER, OVER A MILLION INHABITANTS. The Hon D. Buddo, Minister of Internal Affairs, who arrived from the north this morning, gave the following further census returns, being the finals for the dominion :

Maoris and Pacific Islanders are not included. " Some of the figures," said tho Minister, " as yet only been Avired from outlying districts, but it is not expected that the posted returns will affect the result. Thero has been no opportunity for comparison, but it is expected that the percentage of increase will be found to compare very favourably with other oversea dominions in a similar position to New Zealand."
