CHRYSANTHEMUM SHOW.
The Canterbury Horticultural Society's autumn show was opened at the Alexandra Hall this afternoon. The collection of blooms is exceptionally good, and the exhibits have been very tastefully arranged. The ferns and other foliage plants set off the display well. Competition has been keen in many classes, but Mr W. Bayliss easily outclasses other competitors in chrysanthemums. The decorated tables, for which live entries have been received, will be judged by public vote thi3 evening. The fruit and vegetable classes are strong, the sections for apples being especially good. The show will bo open this evening and to-mor-row.
