LICENSING.

ROWDY MEETING AT MASTERTON. rPEK Press Association.] MASTERTON, March 20. Dr H. D. Bedford commenced an open-air address on prohibition on Saturday night, in the presence of over a thousand people. He had a trying time, being subjected almost continually to loud hooting and yelling. Cheers we're given for both sides of the question. Then Mr E. G. Eton, chairman of the local Hospital Board and member of other public bodies, got up on the platform and denounced prohibition as a failure from a business point of view. Mr Jabez Bridges, no-license organiser, was then refused a hearing. A Wellington resident put a motion in favour of restoration, and this was declared carried by an overwhelming majority. It was the rowdiest gathering held here for twenty years.
