As a result of negotiations which hare boon proceeding for'some time the ampbyers have drafted o scheme foz tho defence of employers, and unionists from loss through strikes. Ii is proposed to raise a permanent fund of £200,000, the interest of which will be devoted to the defence of employers who support the Free Workers' So. ciety and the industrial education oi fre« employees. Members of the Society wiljt.be assisted to the extent.of half their wages in case of a lock-out or strike. It is intended to found scholarships in connection with the Society -ii each branch of trade. It is reported ihat*the movement is receiving very strong support.
