PERSONAL.
The Hon G. Fowlds,. Minister of Education, arrived in Christ-church this morning. He received several deputations and attended to departmental affairs in the morning, and in the afternoon laid the foundation stone of the Somerfield School, Sydenham. He will leave for Dunedin to-morrow morning, and will return to Christohurch in about a week. Mr and Mrs T. E. Fraser returned to Christohurch this morning. Mr G. Laurenson, M.P., returned from Wellington this morning. Mr W. E. Simes, who has been on a visit to Sydney, returned to Ohristcjuirch this morning. Messrs F. E. Miller, W, F. Toimlinson and W. A. Doyle (Sydney) arrived in Christohurch this morning. The Hon W. S. Whitely, of Tasmania, arrived in Christohurch to-day on a holiday tour. Messrs W. N. Tangye and E. J. Reid and Dr Patterson arrived from Wellington by the ferry steamer this moraine members of the Lyttelton Club have presented Mr W. Lancaster, treasurer of the club, with a handsome marble clock, on the occasion of his marriage. Lieutenant-Colonel R. H. Rhodes, M.P., returned to Christchurch to-day from a visit to Australia. He will leave for England with Mrs Rhodes to-mor-row.
