Toomath, who was proceeding to Port Awarrai as relieving teacher, got caught in a wheel, but was freed by a big wave. He was severely shaken, but wan ablo to continue his journey yesterday. A man named William Chapman, while working under a cliff on the public works at the Cass, wa& wounded on the head by a heavy stone falling from the top of 'the cliff. Ho wnjj taken to the Ciiriistcluirch Hospital last evening, and it was found that be had sustained a somewhat severe scalp wound.
