THE RACING COMMISSION. TO REPORT IN THREE WEEKS. [Fboh 01-h Correspondent.] AUCKLAND, March 14. The members of the Racing Commission, brought their labours in the North Island to a closo last Saturday. Mr John Rowo, the Auckland Commissioner, speaking to a reporter, said the Commission had visited every town in the North Island where a. totaliaator meeting: is held. In each place the racecourse was visited, and the fullest inquiry made as to the history of enoh club, how long it had been in existence, what its financial position was and what its general appointments were. In this way members of the Commission were making themselves conversant with the position of every olub, so that when it came to allocating the racing permits for the year those adjudicating would be cognisant of the requirements of every diatriot, and what each club was oapable of doing. The number of racing days is now limited to 250 per year, so that some clubs will practically be ruled out of existence under the conditions of the new Gaming Act. , . On Monday next the Commission will begin a tour of the South Island, and, after visiting all the towns where registered race meetings are held, will return to Wellington to prepare its report to the Minister. The report, it is expected, will be ready in about three weeks' time.
