—-♦ ANNUAL CONFERENCE

NINTH DAY

The Methodist Conference was resumed at 10 a.m. to-day, Rev G. W. J. Spance (president) in the chair. HOME MISSION FUND. The Home Mission Executive Committee reported recommending- the allotment of grants to the various stations for the ensuing year, lire recommendations were adopted. The Rev T. G. Brooke was reappointed organising secretary, and Mr Brooke and Mr J. Veale were re-appointed general treasurers of the fund. The Homo Mission Executive reported recommending the rescinding of the following resolutions passed by last Conference:—" That grants for the support of the Native minister 1 * and Native homo missionaries be made on the same principle as that applied w; the European departments of the work, and that the ministers and office-bearers of the Maori stations be notified that this will beput into operation in 1911 " ; "that there be no further increase in the cost of the Maori work without the express sanction of Conference." The Rev G. Bond moved as an amendment that instead of rescinding the second resolution, it should be amended to read: " That there be no further increase in the cost of the Maori work for new enterprises without the express sanction of Conference." The amendment was carried. The recommendations of the executive in regard to the principles of administration of the fund, contained in the report presented the previous day, wore moved for adoption, and after considerable discussion the motion was lost by 49 votes to 37. It was decided that the Stationing Committee should hold its final meeting on Monday at 2 p.m. The Conference adjourned at 12.45 p.m. till 10 on Monday. .
