The consuro debate is expected to finish to-night, and a Government victory is considered certain. Mr Trickett has been re-elected Chairman of Committees in the Legislative Council. VICTORIA. MELBOURNE, November 24. The Land Tax Bill before tho Legislative Assembly provides for a flat rate of ;|d in the pound on unimproved values, with exemptions up to £SOO on country lands and £3oo'on urban lands. WESTERN AUSTRALIA. PERTH, November 24. The Legislative Assembly has agreed to tho appropriation, of £40,000 for the Bullfinch railway. TASMANIA. HOBAIIT, November 24. Li the Legislative Assembly the Premier introduced the land and income tax resolutions. The land tax scale will start from Id in the pound on unimproved land values up to £2500. and ranges to 2i<l on values over £BO,OOO. The income tax is fixed at Is in the pound on all incomes v. - here companies are concerned and incomes derived from property. On. personal incomes it ranges from Id to Is 4d according to scale.
