♦ CHRLSTCHURCH. Friday, Novejiukr 4. (Before Mr T. A. B. Bailey, S.M.) Separation Oiujer. —Jane. Faull was granted a separation order against Ekired Robert. Faull, her husband, who was ordered to contribute £1 per week towards her maintenance. Dhcjnken:n"j;ss. —A first o(fender, on a charge- of drunkenness, was lined 5s and costs, in default twenty-four hours' imprisonment. Assault.—John Pearson pleaded not guilty to a charge of having assaulted Frank Wilson, on Novomber 3. He was also charged with being" an idle and disorderly person, without sufficient lawful means of support. Sub-Inspec-tor M'Grath led evidence to show that the accused did no work and lived chiefly bv sly-grog selling and cadging. On the first charge the accused was convicted and sentenced to one month's imprisonment. Tho second charge was ordered to stand over till the accused had been given an_ opportunity to produce receipts showing tho amount of his earnings. Idi. ij and Disoiuh-.ri.y. Margaret Bennett was charged with being a rogue and a vagabond. The accused pleaded for . a chance, and promised, if discharged, to leave the town. A sentence of six months' imprisonment was imposed.— John Alva 11 was also charged with being an idle and disorderly person. There were two charges for the same class of offence. Myall Mas sentenced to six months' imprisonment, the sentence to be suspended if he remained in the Salvation Armv Homo for a period of six months.—William Walker, alias John Walker, alias Henry Wilson (Mr Alpers), was convicted on a charge of being an idle and disorderly person, and was ordered to come up for sentence when called upon.—John Pearson, charged with being without lawful means of support, failed to satisfy the Court that he had been earning in a legitimate way sufficient to maintain himself, and was convicted and ordered to come up for sentence when called upon.
Thicit.—Samuel Wilson (Mr Cas.sidy) was charged with having stolen a leather purse, valued at £2, the property of W. D. Anderson. He was convicted and ordered to come up for sentence when called upon, a condition of his discharge being that he was to get work as soon as po&sible and remain in the care of tho Salvation Army officers till work was obtained.
A'Serious Chahok. —Ernest Barter, charged with having indecently assaulted a girl under sixteen years of ago, was remanded to appear "at Timaru the following morning. Uxr-icKxsKn Cab Driver.—James Edwin Coxhead, charged with having driven a cab without being licensed to do so, pleaded guilty and was fined 20s and costs.
LYTTELTON. (Beforo Messrs C. Ferrier, J.P., and J. Garrard, J.P.) Ditu-VKKNXKSS. —Two first- offenders wore convicted and discharged for drunkenness. PjtoTfuimoN- Ordkb.—On the application of the husband a prohibition order was granted against bis wife for twelve months.
