[From Oue Correspondent.] t GREYMOUTM, August 4. The Wcstport Chamber of Commerce has been advised, in reply to its request, that the- Government could 'not supply coal to a collier owned in the district, as its existing arrangements for carriage of coal from the State mines continue up to March, 1911. The question could he considered when the existing contracts expire. Arrangements between the officials of the Wostport Coal Company and the representatives of the Denniston and Granity Miners' Union in regard to a working agreement are progressing satisfactorily. Mr Dixon, district superintendent of the company, proceeds to Wellington to-day on the company's business, and on his return to Wcstport the conference will be resumed. ,
