The following team has been chosen to represent Auckland against America on Wednesday: Miller, Stewart, O'Loarv, Wilson, Magee, Armstrong, Morse, Wilkes, Tyler, Sellars. Ftancis, Cunningham, Maguire, Wyllie and Tresize. MALVERN SUB-UNION. , 'Playing at Halkett on Saturday Kirwee defeated the home team by five points to nil. E. Joseph scored a try, which P. Moncur converted. Mr G. Butler was referee. Glentunnel beat Sheffield at Sheffield by fourteen points (three tries and a stonl from a try) to nine noints (three tries). Mr M'Meekan was referee. By defeating the Young Men's Chris tian Association's B team on Saturday afternoon the Burnham Association football team tied with the .losers for second place in the competition for the challenge cup offered by- the Canterbury Association Football Association, which it has held for the past twelve months. Sydenham is now leading in the competition, with ten points, Burn ham and Young Men's Christian Asso ciation B having each 9 points. The Young Men's Christian Association's team travelled to Burnham, and a hard and fast game was played, the home team winning by a goal from a penalty and a second from a corner, both being secured in the latter part of the match. The most conspicuour feature of the play was the goal-keep-ing for Young Men's Christian Association by Curtis, whose fine defenc against tho unceasing attacks of the homo team saved the situation for the weaker visitors. Williams and Silverwood also played a good game fo) Young Men s Christian Asociation, aiu 1 amongst the Burnham players Bissett Fnllerton, Norman, M'Nejl and M'Farlane wero most prominent. On August 18 a trial match will be played in Chriatchurch for the selection of the representative team thai will travel to Wellington to play tlir Wellington team for the Brown Shield.
