purpose is served by other buckles of Jet. The waistbelt is of black soft'satin, and. there is a ohemisette of fine black Alencon lace over chiffon, with short under sleeves to correspond. " M.A.P." for this week gives some details_ about Queen Mary's wardrobe that will be of much interest to women. Tlie Queen, of necessity, spends upon her State robes a great deal of money, but on _ ordinary attire her Majesty's outlay is, comparatively speaking, by no means large. Queen Mary's yachting costumes, for example, though made of the best navy blue serge, are very simply cut, and do not cost more than six or seven guineas. Her Majesty has several hats which did not cost more than three or four guineas apiece. Three guineas is the usual price which the Queen pays for boots, which are made of the best kid. Of course, her Majesty has several almost priceless possessions which find a permanent place in the Royal wardrobe, and which could not be purchased for money. For instance, there v are various examples or exquisite lace which have been used to adorn many a queen's gowns, and some magnificent Indian embroidery work which the Queen has worn on several of her dresses.
Amongst the latest novelties to be added to the toilet table equipment are special powders for the bath, put up in large boxes, ornamented with simulated ribbons, and a new foot powder. The last is a dainty powder that prevents much of the fatigue attendant on heat, and which does something; to dispel the feeling of exhaustion attendant on feet of which the skin is relaxed and softened. The foot powder box is a bis box, into which the foot is lightly dipped after the bath, and its pungent essences emit a pleasing fragrance.
