The City Council has resolved strongly to oppose the Tramways Bill, ami to ask the local members of Parliament to oppose it, and co-operate with the Wellington, C'hristchurch. Duncdin and "Wanganui Councils in. their endeavour to defeat it. The reasons urged against the Bill were that it was a blow at local government by centralising matters of importance in theMinister, and the insecurity to municipal contracts when the provisions of a deed Can be so simply over-ridden by regulations made by the- Governor.
