CHRISTIAN ENDEAVOUR UNION.
The consecration meeting in connec-tion-with the annual convention of .the Canterbury Christian Endeavour Union was held last evening in. Triuity Congregational Church, the president (Pastor R'. Gebbie) in the chair.
The following officers were elected for the ensuing year:—President, Pastor Gebbie; vice-presidents, the Rev W. J. L. Gloss, Pastor BJackie and Mr G. Burt; secretary, Miss E. Wilson; treasurer, Mr H. Curtis. The president, on behalf of tho Union, welcomed the visiting delegates, and the secretary's and treasurer's annual reports were read. Tho roll was then called by the secretary, who read a. large number of greetings from kindred unions. Nineteen societies responded to the roll call. Pastor Gebbie gave tho presidential address. Ho apologised for the absence through illness of the Rev R. S. Gray, who was to have given the consecration address. Tho Rev S. La-wry, of Papanui, delivered the address in the place of Mr Gray. The president then urged all present to institute an " increase campaign," and if possible double tho number of members by next year. Tho chinch was attractively decorated by the Missionary Committee of the Union with banners and mottoes. A special feature of the display was the fruit and vegetables given by the various societies. These offerings will be distributed to tho needy to-day by the doaconesses of the various churches. During the evening the chairman announced that all ministers who had societies connected with their churches were now entitled to a seat on the Council.
This evening the Convention will he brought to a closo with a junior demonstration, winch will bo held, at tho Salvation Army Citadel at 7.30.
