The High Commissioner to-day cabled the following report on the London wool sales:— The wool sales closed with great competition for best, quality wools, which are in small supply. There is an active demand for coarse cross-breds and all grades light in grease, and the decline in price has recovered. Some 25,500 bales of New Zealand wool have been held over. The following cable messago has been received by Messrs Dalgety and Company, Limited, Christchurch, from their London office, dated London, July 26: —Wool sales closed firm. As compared with closing rates of last'series, prices of merino and fine cros6-bred wools are unchanged, except short faulty scoured, prices of which have been irregular, from sto 10 per cent lower. Prices pf greasy medium and coarse cross-bred wools aro unchanged, whilst scourod are 5 per cent lower. I'ine.slipe wools are unchanged, coarse being 5 to 74 per cent lowei". Total net quantity available for sale amounted to 159,000 bales, of which some 85,000 bales were sold for Home consumption, and 42.000 bales for the Continent, leaving 32,000 bales to be carried forward, of which 24.000 bales were not offered. The quantity held over in first hands prises 22,000 bales New Zealand wools. Tho quantity sold to America comprises 300 bales Australasian wools.
