The French Government lias adopted an old age pensions scheme, costing £5,500,000. FOSTER ERASER'S "IMPRESSIONS." Mr John Foster Eraser lias commenced a series of "impressions" of Australia in the "Standard.." Ho selects Adelaids for culture, Melbourne for business, Sydney for pleasure. Ho adds that there is little genuine desire in Australia for immigrants. PAUPER'S WEALTH. Charles Phillips, an upholsterer, formerly of Australia and Now Zealand, died at Rowton House, Vauxhall, wiiere he lived for many veare upon six shillings weekly. It has since been discovered that he had a bank balance of £3OOO. His relatives believe that he owned another £7OOO worth, of property in the colonies.
