CONFERENCE OF THE ASSOCIA-" TION. y . The third annual conference of • the Association of Suggestive 1 Therapeutics was opened yesterday morning a* eleven o'clock, at the residence of the president, Mr D. Shaw, Papanui Road. Delegates from various parts of the do-, minion were present. .■ ■ ' ■.-'.• The president, in welcoming the delegates; said that it was certainly hii pleasure, and he hoped it would lie ia their profit, to welcome them at the conference. Although there had been no phenomenal happenings during the past year, the*. progress made, toward* gaining the object of the Association, the recognition of suggestive thera* peutics as a scientific method of healing, was undoubtedly gaining' ground everywhere, not only in New Zealand, but* in Europe and America. .) It'. waif to be found in the magazine, the- news* paper, and the novel. It was discussed in the market place, at hotels, and at clubs, as s well as in the homes, , and wherever men gathered together, some phase of psychic phenomena came up for discussion. They were bound to get a beter idea of its value 'diaseni*; nated amongst people, andean Absocu* tion like theirs, standing as~an educated nucleus, would be a sort of bulwark where all the error of untrained, nnnds might spend ~ itsejf and be; corrected. One of the uses of the Association '.>sra* to hava certain principles clearly} explained and demonstrated in everyday practice, so that the whole world might see them, and they, could, after weigh"ing. the evidence, conclude wher© the theory, and practice coincided. ,/Ehey, as an Association, ,had opportunities- of disseminating ;bbe new thought ,f or, the unlifting not only of those who he,ard them, but of v themselves. ■'..'.
