♦ : [FBOM Oim COBRBSPONTDBNT.] KAiox ■, October 16. Kaikoura has been experiencing exceptionally fine weather for some time, and it has had a beneficial effect all round. I Lambing has ibeen got through without a cold snap, and grass is very plentiful. Feed has seldom been .so , pjentiful. A considerable acreage has been ploughed this year, chiefly on the new GreenhUle settlement, where some thousands of acres have been turned over, and on Swyncombe, land that was all fern and scrub has been ploughed and sown, and is now in. crops and looking exceptionally well. Altogether a considerable quantity of grain has been put in thifl year, chiefly oats and wheat. Potatoes are about finished now, and holders are asking 9s a ba^. A considerable quantity is being imported. • The visit of the Inspector of Apiaries at . the last agricultural and pastoral Show seems to have done good', as farmers are improving their Tiees and providing them with up-to-date hives. The Agricultural and Pastoral Association has been instrumental in get^ ting the Government stallion* Malachi placed in this district. Mr E. Rabbits, Orchard Inspector, was here a short time ago pruning and spraying orchards. The dembnstra-: turns were well attended by those interested. The directors of the dairy company have decided to ship most of their output Home again this season, and sell through the same brokers as before. Milk is coming in f rewly at the factory, and it is expected that another vat will be required shortly, makiag the fifth.
