Diaz crossed the border for the first time during his Presidency and met President Taft at El Paso. President Taft returned the visit at Tuarez, and there were great demonstrations in both towns. M. Diaz was attended by 3000 Mexicans, and Mr Taft' by a large body of United States troops, owing to threats of assassination and an expected Anarchist demonstration.
