' 1896 ——————— s The name of Sir Christopher Wren is always associated with St Paul's Cathedral, and an incident described by Bishop Julius recently evidently made a strong impression on his audience. He said that in one of the towers of the Cathedral liung the largest bell' in England. When it was past and ready to be hung, the workmen, in .the usual style of modern times, began to wonder whether the opening in* the grooved roof of the tower was large enough to permit of the hoisting of the bell to its- position. It was found that the opening designed by Sir Christopher Wren was fesactly large enough to permit of the passage of the largest bell that could possibly be rung in the tower, and the Bell that had been cast was hoisted with, two inches to spare.
