At the wool sales the Panikan clip brought B§d per lb and the Ruru clip ! old per lb. > Messrs Dalgety and Company have ! received the following cablegram from ; London, dated May 6:— "Frozen > beef^—The market is firm, any change i in prices being, in favour of sellers. ■ There is no improvement in frozen mut- > ton; prospects are unfavourable and ■ the market is weak, but prices are - not quotably changed, except for prime , light Canterbury, which is firmer, ■ owing to scarcity. There is a better I demand for best descriptions of frozen , lamb, but-secondary qualities are weak. l The wool sales continue firm, with an r upward tendency. As compared with closing rates of last series, prices of I merinoes are par to 5 per cent higher, ' except sooured, short and faulty de- . scriptions, which are unchanged. American buyers are buying merinoes and 3 cross-bred wools, 40' s and over, freely. p. Wools suitable for America are 10 per , cent to 15 per cent higher than closing rates of last series.
