THE PENGUIN WRECK.

-* [Ber Press Association.] WELLINGTON, May 5. The hearing of Captain Naylor's appeal against the suspension of his certificate in consequence of the wreck of the steamer Penguin, was concluded to-day. Mr Myers on behalf of the Marine Department addressed the Court maintaining that Captain Naylor had been guilty of default inasmuch as he had failed to take soundings, but had relied entirely upon dead reckoning even when he knew he could not depend upon his patent log and that it was no use to him. Mr Myers also contended that Captain \Naylor had pot steered a prudent course. The Court reserved its judgment till Friday.
