There was a dense fog over the coast this morning, and it had the natural effect of considerably interfering with navigation. The Mokoia left Port Chalmers at 3.50 p.m. yesterday and did not reach Lyttelton Heads till nearly ten o'clock . this morning, taking eighteen hours on the run. The Pateena, from Wellington, Tan into the fog about 7 a.m., and 'lost a round half-hour through a.m.. and lost half an hour through having to slow down
