WORK AND WAGES.
A meeting was held at,. the rooms of the Employers' Federation this afternoon between employers engaged 'in biscuit-manufacturing, lolly-making and fruit-preserving, and the Union ejpbracing the employees in these industries. Mr J. R. Triggs, Conciliation Commissioner, occupied the chajr. After discussion it was resolved " That this conference should adjourn untiLtKe employers and employees have arranged a federation in the different centres of those engaged in the* industries, so that a general award could be agreed to for the whole of New Zealand, and that each side should be in a position to hold a conference between the whole of those interested between now and the end of July." The chairman suggested that the conditions submitted by the delegates of the Union should bo withdrawn.
