The gumdiggers' conference passed a 6eries of resolutions urging a further restriction on aliens, stricter supervision of the issue of naturalisation papers, and granting of worked-out gum lands to gumdiggers on easy conditions. WANGANUI, April 5. In the Supreme Court Mr Justice Sim delivered judgments in a number of oases this afternoon, including G. V. Pearce, M.P., Patea, •v. Albert Symes» Waverley, claim £50 damages for libel. The case arose out .of advertisements appearing in the " Patea Press." On the main action, judgment was given for plaintiff for £10 and costs, and on the counter-claim judgment was given for the defendant for £5, each party to pay its costs. WELLINGTON, April 5.
