DiEtuNKEffirass. — Two* male first offenders for drunkenness were each fined 5s and costs, in default twentyfour hours' imprisonment. — A female first offender was convioted and dis r charged. Charge' of Vagranct Disajcissbd. — An old and feeble man named Andrew Brocklebank was . charged with vagrancy. He was unable, to give any connected account of himself, but SubInspector jM'Grath stated that the man was found wandering after midnight this morning in Sydenham, and said he had no home or friends. It transpired the old man was in receipt i of .an old age pension, and had for some 1 time been in an asylum. A Salvation Army officer asked permission to take charge of the man, and the Bench^. decided to dismiss the case and commit him to the Salvation Army Home. Railway By-law. — Frank Hewitt was fined 10s for passing over a railway crossing at Lowe Street, Addington, when an engine was approachl ing- , Remanded.— Henry Wong Gye (Mr i Cassidy) was remanded until to-morrbw . on a charge of receiving £15 from one ► George Martin, at Dunedin, by means of a valueless che«it«- --<
