President Gomez, having discovered that Cardenas, President Castro's personal secretary, was entrusted to excite the assassination and conspiracy with the help of a mutinous regiment commanded by Castro's brother, boldly personally arrested Colonel Castro. He accused Cardenas, who defiantly denied the plot. President Gomez pinioned him to provent his use of, a revolver, and then imprisoned him, thus breaking the back of the plot. Dr Paul, ex-Foreign Minister, has started for Europe to settle Venezuela'! international dispute.
