THURSDAY COMPETITION. Playing in the Thursday Cricket Association's competition Sydenham beat Australian B by 11 'runs on the first innings. Sydenham made 189 (Nield 80, Jacobs 45, Barratt 13. Arnold 12, Lafferty 10 and Petrie 10) and Australian B 178 (Cox 67, Hemvood 30, Finny 27, Brooker 16 and Gibson 11). Sydenham in their second innings ecor- { ed 189 for nine wickets (Nield retired ! 36, Jacobs retired 52, Lafferty 23, Paul I 14, Alps 12, Bissett not out 15). Nield | and Petrie for Sydenham and Henwood j and Mathews for Australians bowled best. The match between Australian A and Union was concluded at Lancaster Park i and resulted in an eaey win for the j former by 159 rune. Australians I made 209 "and 91 for two wickets (Hold- I en 42, Thomas 32, Johns 31 and 50, | Cusworth 15 and 30, Tucker 29, Owen 15, West not out 12). Union scored 98 ! and 45 (Simpson not out 29, Jones 22 ; and not out 14, Round 14 and Hincks- j mann 10). For the winners Thomas j twelve for 31 and Owen four for 57, ! and for Union Ford bowled successful- ! ly. i
