The JN\ Mephan Ferguson Spiral Pipe Company is to supply the large 30in steel mains for the Wainui^ dam contract, in connection with Wellington's new auxiliary water supply. The same company is supplying 24in diameter steel mains for the Auckland extension water supply. WELLINGTON, November 6. The gold export returns for the September quarter give a total of £536,260, against £621,107 last year. The Customs returns for the same quarter aro £818,742, against £867.842— Auckland £189,812, Wellington £222,033, Christchurch £117,433, lvimedin\£lls,77B. The excise duties for the same period were £26,495, against £26,138, df which beer duty was £25,517, to £24,491. At the Otaki Court yesterday the following bookmakers were fined for trespassing on the racecourse : — Isaac (two charges), £20 on each; Garrity. £20; Stelling, £20; Radcliffe, Parkes and Gray, £10 each. Costs of £2 6s were inflicted in each case. Lynn and M'Kelvie, on two charges of driving a motor-car at excessive speed, were fined £3 on each charge.
