Turnbull and .Co.'s vessel, the Sankfields, which left this port on May 30 'or Maiden Island, in o-rder to lead a cargo >f guano for here. • She has made an cxleedingly good passage, only eighty-five days laving elapsed since she left Lyttelton. Ninety days are considered reasonable time for the run from Lytteiton to ilaldeu Islaiid md back, but, it is said?, Captain Douglas, the. naster of the Bankfields, -wagere3 that he. irould do it in eighty-five days, and he kept lis word. The barque entered 1 the Head? at J. 25 a.m. to-day, and as she came, up the harbour she was boarded by the health officer, Dr TTpham, who admitted her to pratique, md "by the Customs- authorities, by whom ihe was cleared inwards. The Norwegian barque Grasmere was 'at Maiden ]>lard when the Bankfiek'g left, which ehe did on August 1. She came- -by way of the Hast Cape, and. favoured by wind ard weather, maß? the passage in twenty-three- days, exceedingly good time. The whole of her cargo is for Lyttelton, and her movements after discharge haye not yet- been determined.
