Books and newspapers, 7 a.m. and 10.10 a.m. SATURDAY, AUGUST 22. For Australian States, via Hobart, per express, to connect with Warrimoo, at 11.10 a.m. ; late fee letters, 11.25 a.m. ; guard's van. 11.55 a.m. train. For Northern Ports and Westport-, per Maori, at 6.23 p.m.; late fee letters, 6.40 p.m. ; guard's van, 7.45 p.m. train ; also, per Monowai, «f. 7.20 p.m. ; late fee letters, 7.85 p.m. ; guard's van, 10.55 p.m. train. MONDAY, AUGUST 24. For Northern Ports and West-port, per Pateena, at 4.15 p.m.; late foe letters, 4.30 p.m. ; guard's van, 5.25 p.m. train. NOTE.— -On and after Tuesday, September 1. the following public counters at the Chief Post Offics, Christchurch, will be cpen daily from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.: — Stamps, Registered Letters, Delivery of Correspondence (for counter corresr>ondence only), and the Parcel Poet Branch, Hereford Street. Postal notes will ha so.'d at the stomp cctmier between 8 and 9 a.m. and 4 and 8 p.m. daily, Saturday 1 to 8 p.m. The next mail from the United Kingdom is duo in Christchurch on August 25, via Brinclisi. Mails for the Australian States, etc., per Victoria, close at Auckland, Monday, August 24 at 4.15 p.m. Mails for the United Kingdom, etc., despatched from Christchurch on July 10 arrived in London on August 17, one day early.
