The scoring in the county^ matches Las been phenomenally neavy of late. Twenty-nine centuries have been scored during the past eignt- days, including ten this week. Surrey scored 632 foi eight wickets, and defeated Kent by an innings and 318 rums. Alan Marshall, for the winners, made 167. * Essex made 573 for nine wickets against Northamptonshire, M'Gahey scoring 230. . . Middlesex scored 534 for eight wickets against Notts, Tarrant being 1 top scorer with 144 not out. Lancashire scored 506 against Leicestershire.
