Duikk and Comi'i.icatioxs. — Five first offenders, including a woman, were connoted of drunkenness, and were each fined 6s, with the alternative of twentyfour hours in the cells. William Wilson, who was arrested on Saturday night for drunkenness, was charged with having assaulted Constable Dunne while in the execution of his duty, with having broken two cab windows and other fittings, valued at 17s 6d, the property of Charles Holmes, and with having damaged Constable Dunne's shako, valued at 8s 6d. He was convicted on each charge ; on the first he was fined 20s, in default fourteen days' imprisonment, and on the others was ordered to pay for the damage done. Theft. — Nicol Kidd was convicted of stealing two fowls, valued at 10s, the property of Frederick W. Johnston. He was fined £3, with the alternative of one month's imprisonment.
