FIRES.
» A fii'o occurred yesterday afternoon in a five-roomed house occupied by M" 1 J. R. Robertson, and owned by the Tisch Estate, in Aidred Street, oft Montreal Strent, and the building was gutted. The brigade dirt everything possible, but the flames h.id a good hold and eculd not be quenched until the house was destroyed. The building was insured in the South British Office for £20ft. , • , ' A small fire occurred in Durham Street south td-day. Mr A. Menzies, plasterer, left a fire in his workshop, near the corner of Mcorhouse Avenue j»nd Durham ' Street, and during the* dinner hour some sparks set fire to the lining. An alairni was given by someoua outside, as for a neighbouring grain store, and a horse chemical and a steamer were sent from . Chester Street. The motor chemical was on the spot first, however, and put the fire cut. The wall was burnt through, but only about £10 worth of damage was 1 *» a - There was no insurance.
